This unit will replace the manual controls you will be removing from your dash. It will be hidden in the dashboard; the exact location will depend on your car model. The unit pictured here belongs to an X-Type.
The DVD drive sits in the trunk. It hosts the whole operating system and also runs the screen. It in interchangeable between all models. No matter what you do, do NOT press the update button!
The latest navigation map is from 2012. This makes the navigation function obsolete, hence the GPS antenna is not crucial.
Another optical connector needs to be added onto the existing daisy chain. You may also skip this one as it is only required to transfer the navigation sound.
Fitting this loom is easy. Starting from the trunk, you will find an empty cable slot below the door step covers at the left hand side of your car. Remove your old stereo when you reach the dash. Plug your existing stereo connector into the looms, then connect both loose connectors from the loom into the screen and the radio. That's it!
